Ironic how many Hearing people have congratulated me, saying, “you speak good,” when they find out I have Deaf parents — while they themselves could use a few remedial classes.
BTW I always respond, “Yes, I do speak quite WELL.” Not sure if they understand why ‘well’ is pronounced sarcastically or if they know how much I enjoy mental boxing — duck, duck, jab, lean, … HAYMAKER and subsequent KO!

A moment to reflect
I felt the need to reach out to Tumblr via text- which I know isn’t the norm for such a network, but I thought I’d switch things up today.
Writing this outside in the sun on an iPad really make the while process an interesting one, almost “Jetsion” in nature, yet appropriate for our time… Being urged to reflect upon the idea of “Dine & Sign”, which has found an interesting audience thanks to the many social platforms I’m on, it amazes me how powerful and yet insignificant a 20something can be, developing a show on a weekly basis.
I wanted to write this on Tumblr because I felt it was the only one of my profiles that lacked a “voice.” Sure there is no chatter in between the posts, but I’d like to think what I share is a representation of who I am, and I’ve begun to live a life of transparency because of it… This begs the question of ones own character in regards to their non-Internet life.. But I digress.
So as I build this Deaf and ASL minded group of followers, I turn to them to ask? What can I do better? As a new media enthusiast, I’m beginning to see myself as a YouTuber, an offshoot of the renegade filmmaker of yore, and I begin to understand the living breathing organism that is the Internet. So from being on Tumblr, to making YouTube videos, I’ve also been podcasting for the past 2 years and am getting two transcribed.. Is this something people might want to read as people who enjoy ” Dine & Sign”? Because I’d be more than willing to share.
